Review :
After the last time was filmed by director Ronny Yu's Freddy vs. pass. Jason in 2003, now Michael Bay with its production company, Platinum Dunes, re-filmed one of the most popular horror characters in Hollywood was with the intention of doing a reboot of the franchise A Nightmare on Elm Street was first released in 1984 by director Wes Craven sebvagai.
Choosing Samuel Bayer, formerly better known as a music video director, to sit in a chair director, the latest version of A Nightmare on Elm Street is doing a pretty big step to replace the cast of characters Freddy Krueger. The position normally played by Robert Englund since 1984, has finally replaced by Academy Award-winning actor, Jackie Earl Haley. To script the story, the story earlier draft of this film done by Wesley Strick (Doom, The Glass House) before finally revised by Eric Heisserer.
Still using the same formula as it has implemented an early version of this movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street opened with scenes of Dean Russell (Kellan Lutz), who experienced many horrific dreams about a man who wanted to kill him and made him have not slept in several days. Of course, like any other normal person, her boyfriend, Kris Fowles (Katie Cassidy), said that it was simply a flower bed that does not mean anything. But in reality, few minutes later, when Dean was asleep, he was killed in a way, that for others, looks like he slit his own throat.
This, of course, provide its own trauma for Kris. When the funeral of Dean, Kris saw a picture of himself with Dean when childhood, a thing for Kris feels very strange because he was not familiar with Dean in his childhood. When she started being haunted by the same dream as experienced by Dean, Kris later was accompanied by her former lover, Jesse Braun (Thomas Dekker). Unfortunately, it did not prevent Kris to be killed in his dream.
Being at the scene, of course, that the murder suspect Jesse Kris. Before he was finally arrested by the police, he fled to the house Nancy Holbrook (Rooney Mara), who once said that he understands what dreams mean Dean. There, Jesse revealed that he had also been encountered by the same man in his dream, who called himself Freddy (Jackie Earle Haley). Nancy, who has long had the dream, with his friend, Quentin Smith (Kyle Gallner), must try to solve the mystery of who the man is in the dream and why they were targeted for assassination.
Long before the reboot of the A Nightmare on Elm Street, the home production of Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes also has melaukan the same thing to several other horror franchises such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amytiville Horror and Friday the 13th, most of whom get a lot of sharp criticism from film critic world. A Nightmare on Elm Street seems to have the fate of quality that is not far different from those films.
Given this is a reboot version, where the story of this film will start from the beginning, then A Nightmare on Elm Street also seemed to want little to focus on the character of Freddy Krueger, and things that cause became a cold-blooded killer. Views Jackie Earle Haley, who is covered by many layers of makeup bvanyak, as Freddy, admittedly darker than what has been previously shown by Robert Englund. Even so, because overall the film does not only focus on the characters themselves, the ability to bring Haley in Freddy character seems to be not too can feel the changes.
From the side of the story script, this movie does not seem to change much. Looks like A Nightmare on Elm Street itself has its own market share, which already knows what they'll get when watching this movie. For those who just want to watch a bunch of sadistic young men die in turns, with no concern other side of the story, A Nightmare on Elm Street is promising. But for others it will consider the formula of this movie is very missed and not so feasible anymore to be reappointed at this time.
If you want to find more credit for this film, visual display A Nightmare on Elm Street along the film can be given a special assessment. Provide dark shades and seem more mysterious, some scenes were quite managed to give the impression of creepy. Coupled with the layout of the music of Steve Jablonsky fairly well, some scenes become more effective for the audience. No offers nothing new for audiences other than, perhaps, come up with a more elegant visualization of the previous films, A Nightmare on Elm Street will not be able to do much for those who expect any new changes and a separate horror for this franchise. Fortunately, the ranks of actor the film does not perform very badly in the acting character. For those who just want to listen to a minor horror story without regard to other quality factors, A Nightmare on Elm Street might still be working fine. Nothing more. So, this movie I think is very interesting and you can make a referral to see the movie.
